June Walker-Wilson is a painter who draws inspiration from the seasons and the natural environment. She has mainly worked in oils for over twelve years. In 2011 she developed a new technique of manipulated fabric on board in which she bridges the space between flat art and three dimensional sculpture. She continues to use traditional oil paints to finish the multi-focal sculptural effects of her paintings.
June immigrated to Newfoundland in 1982 and now calls St. John’s home. Her journey towards painting as a medium for creative expression commenced with photography, has included textile and fibre arts and both formal and informal drawing, painting and sculpture courses. She obtained her BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in 1999.
June has exhibited in solo and group shows in Newfoundland, Ontario and Alberta, and her work is in private collections in Canada and the United Kingdom. Her paintings can now be viewed at Ultramarine Fine Art Studio, 100 Duckworth Street, St John’s.
